History
The Maine Invasive Species Network and this website were conceived in October 2009, when a group of 45 people met in Augusta at the first meeting to bring together people who work intensively on invasive plants, animals, and other invasive species in Maine. Although originally planned as a way to connect professionals, the Network expanded to include all people interested in all aspects of dealing with non-native species in the Pine Tree State.
Activities
The biggest event organized by the Network is its General Meeting, held every one or two years somewhere in Maine. There are also a listserv and a Facebook group that connect its members and serve for the exchange of relevant information. In addition, members form smaller groups that work on specific projects or discuss specific issues.
